Mumbai, 21st March 2023: School of Law, NMIMS, Indore Samvaad committee is proud to announce the First edition of their Inter-School Debate Competition which was held on 18th March 2023 at Indore Campus. This event was aimed at providing a platform for the students of NMIMS Indore to connect with a diverse community while nurturing their oratory, research, and analytical skills. The committee’s goal is to facilitate an inclusive and accessible platform for aspiring lawyers to learn, think wisely, talk valiantly, and debate logically.
The topic for this year’s competition is Human reliance on AI and technology is leading to the deterioration of quality of life. The organizing committee believes that this topic is not only timely but also pertinent as Artificial Intelligence is becoming increasingly relevant in our lives.
The competition’s topic of analyzing the impact of AI on human lives is timely and relevant, as AI is becoming increasingly integrated into our daily lives. This competition was open to all schools within NMIMS Indore, allowing for a diverse range of perspectives and ideas. 2 teams from the School of Engineering, 07 teams from the School of commerce, 11 teams from the School of law, and 2 teams from the School of management participated. The participants will be judged based on their argumentation, research, and oratory skills. The winners of the competition will be awarded a cash prize, certificate, and recognition for their achievements.
Advocate Nandini Bansal, Miss. Uttara Gharpure, and Prof Gaurav Rawal were the chief guests, and their presence at the event inspired and motivated the participants to pursue their interests in AI and technology, particularly in the law context.
Dr. Ashutosh Hajela, Associate Dean, School of Law, expressed his views and stated,“I am extremely proud of the efforts put in by the School of Law, NMIMS Indore Samvaad committee for organizing the first edition of the Inter-School Debate Competition. It is imperative for the students to engage in healthy debates and discussions, especially on topics that have a significant impact on our lives. This competition provides an excellent platform for students to hone their critical thinking, research, and oratory skills. The competition topic is particularly relevant, given the increasing reliance on AI and technology in our lives.
