Featuring the Author – Ms. Amrutha Varshini

Ms. Amrutha Varshini, a multi-faceted personality, a charming teacher, an avid reader, an inspiring Instagrammer and a hardworker from the word go, completed her Bachelors in English Language and Literature from the esteemed English Language and Literature. She, then, went on to pursue her Masters in the same field from the erstwhile SSSIHL and secured a  Gold  Medal  for  her  Academic  Excellence. She is currently a Research Scholar in the Department of English at Anna University, Chennai. She was the recipient of the Anna Centenary Research Fellowship (ACRF) in the year 2019. She has cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) for 4 consecutive times. She cleared the JRF Exam in the year 2019 with 99.96 percentile and received JRF Scholarship from 2020 to 2022. She is currently receiving the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF). She has published a number of research articles in journals of National and International repute. In 2018, She co-authored a book titled, “Common Errors in English Grammar”. She has published two books for NET aspirants.

The Literature Times: Author, welcome to The Literature Times. Congratulations on the publication of your book! What feedback do you get from your readers? Please share your thoughts on this book.

Author: I am overwhelmed. It is actually an amazing thing to reap the fruits of your hardwork. I was pregnant with the idea of my own grammar book for many many years now. And now to hold my baby in my hands is a wonderful feeling. The readers are my students and thr feedback is bewitching.

The Literature Times: What motivates you to become a writer?

Author: I like writing and even as child I remember how I used to roam around with a scribbling pad and a pen all the time. In fact, my relatives would call me a writer back then. Now, specifically with regard to this book, I am a new-mom who feels tired, worrisome. I wanted to prove that this isn’t a speed-breaker in life but the necessary engine oil that propels us to work better.

The Literature Times: What are your favourite writing topics? Please tell us a little bit about your literary interests.

Author: I am a Literature enthusiast. But somehow, I have written three academic books. In the future, I might try something different. In fact, I was writing a novel on misplaced love but lost the inspiration to complete it. Now, I am doing my PHd, I would probably try my hand at writing once I am done with this.

The Literature Times: We were hoping you might tell us about some of the authors that have influenced you and who you read!

Author:. Predominantly,  I read a lot of self-help book. One book that has impacted me a lot is Tuesdays with Morrie. My second favorite is Franz Kafka and his novella The Metamorphosis. I understood family dynamics better after reading it. If u have read it, u will know what I mean.

The Literature Times: The title is unique and appealing; how did you come up with them? Please tell us the story behind it.

Author: Ease was one Word that was always in my mind. I wanted to make grammar easeful. Because that is one thing that is tormenting for most language learners. And that is how I ended you giving the title Learn Grammar with Ease.

The Literature Times: What are your achievements so far? Tell us something about your writing career.

Author: My biggest achievement in life, so far, is the Gold Medal that I got in my M.A. That was probably the first and the last moment my mom felt proud about me. Like I mentioned earlier, I have published five book. One of which was co-authored. Another is a poetry collection that I compiled. And including the present book, I have published three academic books.

The Literature Times: What is your current goal in writing a career? How do you see your future in writing?

Author: I like to write, often we write that which we can never say or do, which life cannot live. So i’m just doing my Karma the fruits should be left on time. I am a language trainer so I wish to write as many books as possible to make language learning effortless.

The Literature Times: Do you have any other novels in the works? Please keep us updated on your future endeavours.

Author: Like I said earlier, I was writing a novel but soon gave up. I might finish that in the future. However, I have planning of writing the Part 2 version of the present book.

The Literature Times: How do you view Indian writing in the twenty-first century? What changes do you see in today’s writing style? Do you feel it has been changed by the time?

Author: Of course it has. Earlier, writers modelled their works on British counterparts. Now, we have created an ethos of our own.

The Literature Times: How simple/difficult was it for you to publish your book? What message do you want to send to aspiring authors?

Author:  As the mom of a toddler, I was an uphill task to finish the book. I had to cut down my screen time and my sleep to complete the book. My message to aspiring authors would be nothing can stop you from doing what you want to do if you are mentally prepared to accomplish the task at hand.
