The plot follows Chandan Mahto, an ambitious truck driver who transforms into a feared gangster in Sheikhpura. His close ties with the police force render him invincible, but things take a dramatic turn when a new SP assumes control. Against the backdrop of the state’s caste system, corruption, power, and politics, the story unfolds between 2000 and 2006, weaving together complex strands.

While the large ensemble cast in Bhav Dhulia’s Khakee is undoubtedly one of its strengths, it is also its downfall, as too many storylines unfold simultaneously, resulting in a slightly overextended runtime. Nonetheless, the film’s taut screenplay, outstanding performances, and stunning visuals make it a highly compelling watch. Currently streaming on Netflix, Khakee is a directorial triumph for Dhulia.
