Author’s Background: Author Kinkini, is known for her fictional picture storybook ‘Kinkini’s Adventure With Kanmani The Hen,’ which got published by Evincepub Publishing in the year 2022. Her book got released worldwide and is available in both paperback as well as in e-book format and the readers can find her book on amazon.
Neel Preet: Firstly, Congratulations on your book, “Kinkini’s Adventure With Kanmani The Hen!” Well, can you please share your experience about making your work come into the form of book!
Kinkini: Writing the second book and its process was easier as I have learned how to do it after completing my first book. This time I had my outline ready with the images I wanted written clearly. I had my word count done as needed for a children’s book. I had written it in simple English from the start. So, the process was easier and quicker. Things fell into place easily. I got my illustrations done quickly through the same illustrator as my first one.
Neel Preet: What inspired you to write this book? What was the impetus behind this work of yours?
Kinkini: Sharing my pet stories of my childhood pets with my grandkids helped me to bring alive my childhood and share my past. The bond I shared with my pets came alive once more. The joy, the emotions, the fun everything in detail came back and I started narrating, not only did my grandkids enjoy but I also enjoyed. Their interest to hear it again and again, of course inspired me and I realised its never too late to write my stories. The encouragement I received from my children and husband made me start on these series with determination.
Neel Preet: Your book title, ‘Kinkini’s Adventure With Kanmani The Hen’ is very catchy! So, can you please explain the reason for going with this book title to the readers?
Kinkini: Each and every pet that cam into my childhood played an important role. So, their names need to be important and in the tile. It was adventure that I had with each of them. That’s how I chose the title for each of the series, showing the importance of the pet and giving a further subtitle. Hence the name “Kinkin’s Adventure With Kanmani The Hen.”- “A Tale Of Friendship And Separation”
Neel Preet: While writing the book what was your mind-set? Is it based on any particular experience of yours?
Kinkini: All the series in these Adventure books are about the pets I had in my childhood and Kanmani the Hen is the second pet that came into my life in my childhood and left a lasting impression. So, it’s a true story of my pet and I was reliving my childhood as wrote this story.
Neel Preet: A part from fiction, in which other genre would you like to contribute?
Kinkini: At Present I am going to concentrate only on fiction. I will be completing the series and then moving on spooky stories for children and later to a fantasy world.
Neel Preet: Studying the stories of this book, I’m greatly impressed & I want you to explain, in your version that how this book will appeal the readers!
Kinkini: Surely, pets play a great role in children’s mind. Especially this story is about a hen that came into Kinkini’s life Mostly kids have seen dogs as pets but this book second in the series will open the world to a different animal. My series of 5 books consists of different pets. Surely, they will come to know that chickens make great pets as they have awesome personalities and come in a variety of shapes, patterns and colours. The colourful illustrations of Kinkini and her pet Hen is surely going to conquer hearts, their separation, Kinkini’s loss, all play with emotions a child undergoes.
Neel Preet: Next, I want you to tell us about some of those writers, who had inspired you!
Kinkini: To name a few, the stories that always inspired me and stayed with me are Black beauty story by Anna Sewell, Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, Snow-white and the Seven Dwarfs and Cinderella by the Brothers Grimm, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, Animal Farm by George Orwell and actually many more.
Neel Preet: Is there any message that you would like to convey to your readers? Or any piece of advice, which you would like to give to the readers out there!
Kinkini: Would like to let the Readers know that Pets play an important part in children’s life. The bond a child develops with a pet can help bring out a sense of responsibility and children naturally become responsible and care for others very early in life. They learn to be compassionate, to be respectful and patient. Infact there is whole lot of emotions involved. The colourful illustrations along with it, the love and bond developed all will surely appeal and delight children.
Neel Preet: Are there any other books being worked by you? Please let us know about your future projects.
Kinkini: At present I am going to proceed and complete with these series and then I am thinking of spooky stories and about a fantasy world.
Neel Preet: Thank you so much for answering all my questions. All the very best to you for future and your book too!
Kinkini: Thank you very much for helping to reconnect with my book and stories
