Neel Preet: Firstly, Congratulations on your book, “Whispers Of Vintage Love: Perfect Soulmates Can Be Sealed In Imperfections!” Well, can you please share your experience about making your work come into the form of book!
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: Romantic fiction has always been my keen interest in reading, writing and also exploring divergent perceptions from different authors. My range of reading starts from classics to modern day fiction. Ever since I started my journey of writing, including participating in a love letter competition on valentine’s day, I had decided to debut the writing in action on a romantic fiction.
Neel Preet: What inspired you to write this book? What was the impetus behind this work of yours?
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: This book specifically covers romantic aspects, some real time social issues, and also some traditional chain of thoughts that stand as stumbling block to this date. There are certain conventions that we witness in our society which is rather familiar to everyone, but no one discusses about the same due to the social stigma we live in. That’s the thought process which provoked me to work on ‘Whispers of Vintage Love’.
Neel Preet: Your book title, ‘Whispers Of Vintage Love’ is very catchy! So, can you please explain the reason for going with this book title to the readers?
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: Love is a beautiful concept that’s been portrayed in several tones, shades and ideas by different authors. In my concept, love is an emotion that needs a customized attention. Old fashioned love stories, films and books still remain a great piece of memory and nostalgia to this date since the levels of emotion are constructed in a contemporary fashion. Although I am part of the ‘new generation’ trend setter, I still hold some of my concepts closer like a vintage or antique perspective magnitude. All these thought processes influenced me to opt for the title ‘Whispers of Vintage Love’.
Neel Preet: While writing the book what was the mind-set you both were having? What are some of the learnings that you gained from this work of yours?
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: I was always fond on writing about the topic “love”. It’s the most fascinating and creative topic that I can talk or write about endlessly. Its amazing to know that more you know about the concept of love, it has its dimensions wider and broader than a chemical structure in organic chemistry. So I decided to start my first attempt on writing with my most intrigued topic with a backdrop of story combining modern day with conventional love.
Neel Preet: A part from romantic suspense, in which other genre would you like to contribute?
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: I would like to try the genres in comedy, mystery and suspense. I believe a good writer should explore a variety in genres to learn and improve the skills and pave a learning ladder to be more creative and inspirational to the readers.
Neel Preet: Reading this book, I’m greatly impressed & I want you to explain us that which segment of readers are you targeting with the book of yours?
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: I did not plan the book for any specific demographic category, cause falling in love and designing a family life is something most people nurture within, even if it’s not discussed openly. However, today’s generation can find the book helpful to contemplate the concept of love on a more traditional fashion than with modern outlook, that enhances the longevity of a relationship.
Neel Preet: Next, I want you to tell us about some of those writers, who had inspired you!
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: I fondly read anything from Archies Digest to Pride and Prejudice. Some of my recurring collection authors are Mark Twain, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Nora Roberts, Paulo Coelho, John Irving, C Rajagopalachari, Chetan Bhagat, Ruskin Bond, Sudha Murty and Shashi Tharoor.
Neel Preet: Is there any message that you would like to convey to your readers? Or any piece of advice, which you would like to give to the readers out there!
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: Writing a book is indeed a dedicated and committed project. Writing is an art, and it’s a God given gift to the special one, and if you are one of them, then you are lucky. In order to improve and continue learning the art of writing, learn consistently from diversified genres of books, blogs, articles. Learn to assess the difference between qualitative content and publicity stunt contents.
Neel Preet: Are there any other books being worked by you? Please let us know about your future projects!
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: I look forward to trying different genres in writing. I do not intend to limit the writing to books alone, but I also look forward to writing some genuine and quality scripts that has an essence to think about. I prefer to build a creative space in diverse angles of writing rather than repeating the same genre or theme. Since my reading habits have always encouraged me to read books at different scales, I have always been influenced to write for different age groups.
Neel Preet: Thank you so much for answering all my questions. All the very best to you for future and your book too!
Sharon Elizabeth Varghese: Its indeed my pleasure to answer these questions. Thank you.
