Stock market world is filled with intricacies that are unfathomable to many people, kids and grown-ups
alike. Its enigmatic ways nevertheless allure people with its promising wealth. They say “money makes
money” in this market. Understanding the wonders of the stock market, its risks and rewards at an early
innocent age is absolutely exciting, given that the kids are not attached to the concepts of money. Sowing
the seeds early is the key to success, indeed!
The authors
Shreyanshi, a 10 year old girl and one of the youngest authors in the world, is entering the world of
Fiction writing with her upcoming story book that she has co-authored. The book is called ‘How to become
money-wise : 10 year old kids demystifying the stock market’.
Shreyanshi learnt the concepts of stock market during her 5th grade’s ‘Stock market’ module in the ‘Gifted
& Talent’ program at her school. She worked on this book during her 5th grade days while the learning
was still fresh. She cherished her days of hands-on learning of the ‘stock market’ know-hows. The energetic
& engrossing conversations with her friends, learning the salient points about investment options and
doing the research work behind the decision making, have all contributed to a rewarding journey for her.
A very interesting and cool fact about this book is that the book’s ‘Foreword’ is written by Mrs Kristi L.
Hayes, who was her ‘Stock Market’ module’s teacher from JCPS Gifted & Talented department at KY, USA.
Her co-author, Garima, is a post-grad in management with specialization in Finance and Marketing from
one of the top business schools, Indian School of Business (ISB). ISB ranked #1 in India and #23 globally
in The Financial Times Global MBA Rankings 2021. Garima witnessed the rigor with which her 10 year old
daughter learnt the Stock Market concepts, not just exploring the topics with her friends but also
discussing and sharing at home with parents. This inspired this story to come into being. The fictional story
runs in parallel with the conceptual understanding of the stock market mystery.
The book
It is a story of 3 close friends in grade 5. They are all 10 years old and while they love studies, they also
greatly enjoy music, video games, volleyball and hanging out together. One unique chapter in their lives
starts, when they get into an adventurous exploration of the ‘stock market’. It made them excited about the
alien stock market jargons and it’s mysterious terminologies. They jumped into it, steadily and intelligently
deciphering the code of the wild world of stock market and experienced a paradigm shift from an
‘spending’ to the ‘investing’ mindset.
This book has fun moments, inspiring achievements and impromptu celebrations of these 3 friends, that is
something to emulate, for sure! During the course of the story, the readers will feel how the complex things
become easy and simple to understand when looked at through a kid’s eyes. The book also has a format of
learning and getting the hands dirty, as they say, using a pretend money game and worksheets.
Intended Purpose behind the book
The author duo want this book to reach all the kids and grown-ups alike, for them to enjoy the ride which
the 3 kids take in this story, while they gradually demystify the stock market. The authors wish to
encourage the readers across the globe to get a flavor of savings and investment moving beyond the
spending circle and get inspired towards structured investing.
