The Indian Medical Association (IMA) sent a legal notice to yoga guru Ramdev on Saturday, accusing him of making anti-allopathy comments and “defaming” western medicine. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has requested that Ramdev be prosecuted for comments he made on allopathy (modern medicine) in a video that has gone viral on social media.
The association condemned Ramdev’s remarks in a statement, urging the Union Health Minister to either consider the charge and close the modern medical centre, or sue him and charge him under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
“IMA brings to the notice of our Hon. Health minister, a video circulating in social media portraying, the celebrated Yoga Guruji saying that ‘modern allopathy ek aisi stupid aur diwaliya science hai‘ (modern allopathy is a stupid and failed science),” – IMA.
The Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust, on the other hand, refuted that Ramdev deceived the public by making “unlearned” anti-allopathy claims and defamed modern medicine.
