Priyanka Singh (Author of death before cremation: collection of poetry) is a poetess from the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. She is also a student of law at a top law school, NLIU BHOPAL. Her passion for writing dates back to 2008, when she was only 8 years old. It was only a decade later when she set to release her first collection of poetry, ‘Death before cremation’. After facing emotional instability and mental health issues like anxiety and depression in her teenage, she realized that there is a severe lack of awareness around it. The books means more to her than merely a collection of poems, it is a collection of her deepest sorrows and emotions – Every poem has been written to record her then feelings and emotions. After each panic attack, while the hands still shivered and breath was yet not stable, while the eyes were too full of tears to see clear enough – she has written a poem. After each uncontrollable suicide thought, that seemed too peaceful – she has written a poem. After each session of motivating herself – she has written a poem. And this journey has been put together in the form of a book. No more, no less – but the exact number of poems she wrote during her hardest battle. In total she has written more than 300 poems till now but only the poems that recorded her journey with mental health issues, where she felt completely dead within with only her body left to be cremated, were put in the book, with complete honesty.
